We loved the traditional Japanese experience at Hidatakayama Futarishizuka Hakuun. The cypress bathtub in our room offered a relaxing soak with a stunning view of Takayama. The location was perfect, close to the Higashiyama Walking Course and Takayama Castle ruins. The helpful female staff provided excellent service and the breakfast and dinner options were delicious. Despite a few minor drawbacks, we highly recommend this ryokan for a unique and memorable stay. we had a great time at Hidatakayama Futarishizuka Hakuun and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is located in a peaceful and green area, providing a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It is also conveniently situated near the city center, allowing for easy access to the main attractions. the hotel offers two beautiful public onsen bath areas, with one of them even featuring an outdoor tub with a great view.
Some rooms do not have a view and face a steep hill slope, which may be disappointing for those looking for a scenic view. The rooms and corridors have been described as shabby, indicating that the hotel could benefit from some renovation and maintenance.

The rooms were comfortable and spacious, offering stunning views of the surroundings. The hotel's location was also convenient, being close to local attractions and offering easy access to transportation options. the staff was friendly and attentive, providing excellent service during our stay.
The menu was repetitive, with little variety, and the food quality was subpar. the facilities were outdated and in need of renovation.

Had a good view from the room and enjoyed a private onsen. The highlight of the stay was the Christmas dinner served. It was terrific. The location is great, on top of a hill, so it makes it feel more remote. The staff tried to be helpful.
The hotel was too old and clearly lacked maintenance. The room was cold and there was no extra insulation throughout.

Located on a hilltop, this budget hotel provides a gorgeous view of the city and a peaceful walk through the woods behind the hotel. The friendly and helpful staff offer a shuttle service to the station for convenient travel. The highlight is the delicious and plentiful Japanese breakfasts and the relaxing onsens.
One of the rooms on the first floor needs updating and airing, which could be a damp and uncomfortable experience.

As a traveler exploring the historical center of Takayama, my stay at Hakuun was perfect. The location offered a great view of the city, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent. The room itself was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful wooden bath. The traditional Japanese dining experience, along with the onsen, added to the cultural experience. Highly recommend this ryokan!

The view from our room was breathtaking, and the onsen experience was the perfect way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The location was great, as it was close to tourist attractions and in a fun neighborhood to walk around in. The breakfast in traditional style was a nice touch.
We felt very cared for during our stay and had no complaints at all.
